Now there are two little ponies following The Gardener around the yard, laying on flowers they aren’t supposed to because they were just watered and the ground is cool there.
The Gardener doesn’t get mad. It’s their world too. They are more important than flowers.
She’s gotten to calling them ponies because they giddy up every time she moves.
“Come on little ponies”, she says.
Gertis The Mertis Turtle came to live with The Gardener and Little Red-Haired Girl in February. She has lived with them before for quite a stint, but this time it is permanent.
Little Red-Haired Girl likes her a lot and defers to her on everything. Except cookies.
When The Gardener comes home from having been gone, Gertis The Mertis Turtle makes an awful ruckus and The Gardener keeps telling her to use her indoor voice, but she can’t seem to contain herself.
Little Red-Haired Girl who used to make the ruckus, now sits behind GTMT making a funny little muffled howling noise.
GTMT makes a funny little howling noise when the telephone rings more than twice; as if to alert that the phone is ringing. Maybe she is singing along. She hasn’t said.
Little Red-Haired Girl likes to lounge on any lump or bump, dirt or piled laundry; a bump is a bump is a bump. The same for lumps.
This is part of the dirt lump/bump scenario…
Last year all that “shake, shake, shake” was in wire fencing composting rounds with beets and tomatoes and carrots growing as they pleased. This year they were let go and sifted to use as mulch to improve the soil for a row of tomato seedlings, Brandywine, Cherry, and Black Krim. Black Krim from seeds saved from last year’s crop. They done good!
This menagerie of playmates is near making it impossible for Ms. Jackie of All Trades SpoolTeacher/The Gardener to get any real work done! (That and spending hours trying to figure out how to get rid of Yahoo from her search engine keyword url)
